Rights and Privacy Statement

You are being asked to contribute your recollections, photographic images, video, social media postings or other digital content to the 20/20 Distance: A COVID-19 Digital Archive created by Southwestern University's Special Collections & Archives, which is developing a permanent digital record of the events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Your participation in this project will allow future historians, and people such as yourself, to gain a greater understanding of these events and the responses to them.

You must be 18 years of age or older to submit material to us. Your submission of material constitutes your permission for, and consent to, its dissemination and use in connection with the 20/20 Distance: A COVID-19 Digital Archive in all media in perpetuity. If you have so indicated on the form, your material will be published on the Digital Archive website. Otherwise, your response will only be available to approved researchers using the Archive.

The material you submit must have been created by you, wholly original, and shall not be copied from or based, in whole or in part, upon any other photographic, literary, or other material, except to the extent that such material is in the public domain. Further, submitted material must not violate any confidentiality, privacy, security or other laws.

By submitting material to the 20/20 Distance: A COVID-19 Digital Archive you release, discharge, and agree to hold harmless the Digital Archive and persons acting under its permission or authority, from any claims or liability arising out the Archive's use of the material, including, without limitation, claims for violation of privacy, defamation, or misrepresentation.

We reserve the right to discard or mark private any submission that Southwestern University Special Collections & Archives staff identify as irrelevant or for any other reason within their professional judgement.  Southwestern University Special Collections & Archives is not obligated to include your content in this project or preserve it in perpetuity.

Privacy: Note that this site collects email addresses in order to validate submissions. These addresses are not shared. In sharing your story, i.e. making a contribution to the archive, be aware that we publish the fields "creator/author" and "contributor.” If other than yourself, you should always cite the "creator/author," which is the individual and/or institution that originally created the item or story being contributed.
